Clarity in Pricing

Clarity in Pricing Legislation

Refers to recently introduced legislation which has made changes to the way pricing is displayed to consumers. The legislation aims to enable consumers to compare similar products and make informed purchasing decisions. As a result of this legislation, we have made some changes to our site which we believe will assist consumers in comparing products.

Drive Away No More to Pay

This price includes dealer and government costs borne by the consumer, such as stamp duty, dealer delivery (if it is a new vehicle) and accessories that are either factory fitted or dealer fitted on this particular vehicle. Other Costs associated with car insurance etc., are not included unless stated. Drive Away prices are indicative only – government charges vary according to the purchaser’s personal circumstances (for example, postcode, driving history and how the purchaser intends to use the vehicle). Consult a dealer to determine charges applicable to you. On occasion, the provision by a dealer of both an Excludes Government Charges and Drive Away No More to Pay price may result in the Drive Away No More to Pay of a car being displayed which is over and above the price range, you have entered. The reason for this is to enable a consumer to conduct an "apples with apples" comparison with any other Exc Govt. Charges vehicles on the website which meet the search criteria they have entered (E.g. private seller cars).

Excl. Govt. Charges or EGC

Stands for "Excludes Government Charges". The price includes the price of the vehicle, GST, dealer delivery (for Brand New Cars in Stock) and vehicle options and accessories. It may also include any known incentives offered by the dealer. EGC excludes stamp duty and other government charges. Some dealers have chosen to provide this pricing to enable you to more accurately compare this dealer's pricing to a private seller's pricing, and / or because they do not remit those government charges on your behalf. You should be aware that you will be required to remit those charges to the government direct.

Get Price

Under Competition and Consumer Clarity in Pricing legislation, a dealer must provide you with a single figure price for a vehicle when they make a price representation. In this situation, a single figure price cannot be provided to you at this point in time - For example, in the case of a manufacturer, the manufacturer price may not include all costs and charges which you must pay. Alternatively, a dealer may not be able to give you a single figure price until they have further details from you. Eg: further details on the exact vehicle specifications you are interested in purchasing, and/or the State in which you live.
